About the employer

Nurture Surrey

On April fool’s day 2008, in the leafy surroundings of Windlesham, Surrey, Peter Fane, Managing Director, opened the doors of Nurture for business with just three other members of the team.

The strategy was simple:

Focus on landscape maintenance for the corporate and private sector to build long-term income streams and security;

Offer best in class customer service delivered by permanent staff who invest time to understand our clients’ business;

Champion care for the environment.

The team hit the phones and knocked on doors, using their extensive network of contacts built over the previous years.

Now just over a decade later, Nurture has blossomed into a multi award winning national contractor.

The company has expanded through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions of family owned companies, widening its geographical footprint across the UK.

The acquisitions of Blackburn-based Parkview Landscapes Ltd in 2012, and JMK Groundcare Ltd based near Kilmarnock two years later in 2014, extended its reach into the north of England and Scotland, adding six new depots to the network.

As a sign of its increasing status in the market, Nurture acquired the staff and assets of Integritas Landscapes from Securitas UK Ltd in 2015, with more than 100 staff joining the company, swelling employee numbers to more than 400.

In 2016, the addition of Truegrit Ltd, strengthened Nurture’s gritting and snow clearance operations, making Nurture not only one of the UK’s best national landscape maintenance providers, but also one of the UK’s key providers of winter gritting.

Further acquisitions in 2017 of Botanical Landscapes Ltd and Frosts Landscape secured Nurture Landscapes as a major player in both the exterior and interior landscaping sector, taking employee numbers to over 500 permanent staff working out of 6 regions across the UK, generating sales of £35m per annum.

In February 2018, Nurture made its largest and most pivotal acquisition to date, by bringing Gavin Jones Limited into the Nurture Landscapes group of companies. This transaction brought together two leading privately owned companies, who both share the same passion for delivering a high quality service and building long term relationships with their clients.

Gavin Jones, celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2019, and who are proud holders of the Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen, continue to trade under the name Gavin Jones as a wholly owned trading subsidiary of Nurture Landscapes Holdings Ltd.

With the additional acquisitions of Enterprise Plants and Grace Landscapes at the end of 2018, and the purchase of Eco Landscapes, Dermita Plants, McDermott Contract Services and Jordan Plants in the latter half of 2019, the combined Group now have sales in excess of £83m, employing over 1200 staff and servicing in excess of 3,000 clients over 10,000 sites across the UK.

Nurture has come a long way since 2008, going from a four-person team to a national contractor. Clients benefit from a consistent local team committed to a quality service with the benefits of drawing upon the skills and expertise across a National company.

We combine the best of both worlds and have adhered to our founding principles. We have the dynamism of a young company with the heritage of a family business. We invest in our staff at all levels so our staff retention is excellent. Clients respect the expertise and knowledge our staff possess of their business, and they value that continuity so continue to work with us.

Above all, we have remained true to our name, nurturing the environment, nurturing our clients and nurturing our staff: pioneering environmental innovation in many areas, including tools, vehicles and recycling.

The future looks exciting as our journey continues......
