Why pick a Central YMCA Study Programme?

It's designed around you: We will work with you to find out what you're interested in and where you want to get to and will tailor your course to help you get there.

Get outstanding support: Our team provides outstanding support with a wide range of education and welfare needs, helping you every step of the way.

Learn in small classrooms: Because of our small classroom sizes, you will get more personal attention from our Tutors to help you succeed.

Reach your potential: We promise to help you go above and beyond to reach your full potential and leave you ready for further studies or employment.

Get work-ready: We know that employers look for more than just a qualification. They want skilled, work-ready and motivated individuals and that’s exactly what you’ll become with one of our courses.

Your Study Programme will be made up of four parts

1. Qualification

You will study towards a vocational qualification in your area of interest.

2. Work experience and employability skills

For 1 to 3 days a week, you will have the opportunity to undertake meaningful work experience and skills development.

3. Personal and professional development

The programme is enhanced with a series of enrichment activities, tutorials and workshops that might range from CV writing to nutrition advice or personal finances.

4. Maths and English

If you have not yet achieved a grade 9-4 (formerly A+ - C) in GCSE Maths and/or English, you will continue to study these subjects at your level.

What next?

After completing your Study Programme you could move onto a Traineeship to gain further work experience – a real job, with real job responsibilities. You could also choose to further your development through a paid Apprenticeship or go straight into work.

Caitlin

“I’ve always had a bad experience with education and never really enjoyed learning. Whether that was because of my anxiety or simply not getting along with the teacher. Joining YMCA has changed that, I love my tutor and I look forward to every session with her. I had a lot of support and reassurance throughout.”

"I came to YMCA because I was looking for a laid-back place with a person-centred approach. This is the first place I’ve felt supported and actually understood what I’m supposed to be doing. I now have a career path and am looking to start my Level 3 qualification."
