How apprenticeships work

Apprentices have a contract and are supported to gain relevant qualifications through on-the-job learning, workplace support and tutoring. Apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills.

Levy and funding

The apprenticeship levy is a pot of money some companies pay into, but which all businesses have access to spend on the training costs of apprenticeships.
