Landscape Gardener Apprenticeship Level 2
Mashfords have been maintaining gardens large and small for over 25 years, we currently look after in excess of 100. Gardening and Landscaping, duties will include care of plants, grass cutting and hedging.
Summary
Apprentice Gardener and Landscaper.
This is a great opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture, while gaining
practical skills and experience alongside another horticulturist. Do you have the passion to work
outdoors with manual skills that you feel can be of benefit to a long established family business.
DUTIES
- Carry out all general maintenance tasks
- Practice safe systems of work
- Ensure all tools are stored correctly
- Contribute fully to team working
- Undertake all aspects of garden maintenance, landscaping and commercial grounds
- maintenance.
- Have the desire to learn and become an asset to the company and themselves.
- You will also be required to complete the following: planting, plant growth and development; care for plants correctly in different environments.
PAY and BENEFITS
- Starting pay of national minimum apprentice wage, paid monthly in arrears.
- Statutory holiday pay. Currently 28 days pro-rata.
- Statutory sick pay
- Assistance with fares for college.

- Periodic performance and pay reviews

• This is a physical role working in all weathers outdoors.
• The work at times is physical so fitness is essential.
• Must have a flexible approach to hours due to the weather
Training to be provided
TRAINING - Day release
- Full Level 2 Horticultural apprenticeship
- Level 2 Horticultural Qualification
- Functional skill if applicable
- First aid qualification
TRAINING - On job
- Safe use of gardening and other hand tools,
- Safe use of petrol powered gardening machinery (subject to age)
- Identification and care of plants, shrubs, when and where to plant them.
- Safe working practices related to the above
