Early Years Apprentice

Job Purpose

As an Early Years Apprentice, you will be working in partnership with the nursery staff to ensure the daily running of the nursery, adhering to the Policies & Procedures of the setting, in compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the National Standards.

You will help to encourage children’s development, independence, self-reliance, initiative and problem-solving skills by working in a way that promotes inclusivity of all children by ensuring all have equal access to opportunities to learn, develop and reach their potential. You will learn on the job and benefit from having qualified practitioners to mentor you and support you through your qualification.

Qualifications required

Future prospects

A Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare qualification upon completion.

Things to consider

Main responsibilities:
• Ensures that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• Observes, supports and extends children’s learnings;
• Appropriately plans individual learning experiences for children under the EYFS curriculum;
• Builds and maintains an effective partnership with parents.

40 per week Monday to Friday - flexible start/finish times

21 days per annum FTE, plus all Bank Holidays

Training to be provided

Your hours of work will be Monday - Friday 40 hours per week, you will be given dedicated support from your YMCA Tutor to achieve your Level 2 Or Level 3 Childcare apprenticeship qualification.

As the first independent day care nursery in the area, we understand the importance of early years education in supporting a child’s development, and the trust and confidence placed in us by parents.

We welcome babies and children up to the age of five into a safe and caring environment created in our two beautifully converted Victorian homes. Babies and younger toddlers are cared for at our Terrace Road site and just a brief walk away at Tonbridge Road, confident toddlers and pre-schoolers have the opportunity to learn and explore the world around them.

Our experienced and dedicated staff are committed to making learning fun and supporting the growth of your child, giving them the confidence and skills they need ready for when they start school.

Every child is given a series of bespoke settling in sessions, offering you and your child a happy and smooth transition into our nursery.
