Apprentice Health and Fitness Coach

Ensuring all activities undertaken within the Leisure Centre’s gym, studios, and other sporting facilities conform to latest best practice.

Carrying out day-to-day cleaning and minor equipment maintenance to a satisfactory level – this can be within the gym, or other operational areas of the building such as the Sports Hall.

Carrying out centre tours of facilities for potential customers including performing price presentations, using membership management software, and signing up new members.

Carrying out front of house duties on reception – this can include but is not exclusive to, answering the telephone, taking bookings, taking payments, membership sign ups, and membership admin.

Assisting the teams with building checklists and health and safety weekly tasks.

Assist the Fitness Coach in their day-to-day tasks and help maintain all equipment in working order and to an exemplary standard of hygiene and cleanliness.

Assist in delivery of the Abbeycroft Leisure fitness programme, shadowing and taking on delivery when appropriate (as agreed through tutor and fitness manager/duty officer.

Assist with the organisation and instruction of classes within the fitness areas, gym and studio as required.

Assist the Fitness coach in the design of relevant individual fitness programmes to help customers achieve their fitness goals.

Ensuring regular contact with all customers to maintain retention levels, build confidence in customer interactions.

Supervising the health suite, changing rooms and or toilets (where relevant) to ensure these meet required standards.

Carrying out duties across multiple sites as required – for example Skyliner Sports Centre and Thurston Sports Education Centre.

Carrying out any other duties that the post holder might reasonably be asked to undertake by the Fitness Manager or Duty Officer, Sports Centre Manager or General Manager.

Qualifications required

Must have a keen interest within the leisure industry and want to progress within this field

You must also have great communication and customer service skills
