Financial Accounting Manager

Central YMCA has a great opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant/Financial Accounting Manager to manage and lead the Financial Accounts team in Central London.

The Financial Accounting Manager will own the charity’s financial and statutory reporting processes, ensuring the integrity of financial information and provide high quality, timely information to stakeholders. The role will manage the charity’s working capital via its Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable processes, ensuring process compliance and efficiency along with robust controls on cash.

Managing a team of 5, the Financial Accounting Manager will be the first point of contact with Central YMCA’s external finance, prepare and submit all annual returns, and ensuring controls are adhered to and policies followed and where necessary identify process improvements.

The ideal candidate will be CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified and will have solid experience of the audit and preparation of annual financial accounts under UK GAAP or IFRS, ideally familiar with the reporting requirements of Charities SORP.

Experience of managing a finance function or breadth of experience across multiple finance disciplines is essential (knowledge of Great Plains finance system and VAT legislation in relation to charities are also desirable skills).

We are looking for a Curriculum Development Co-ordinator to manage the development, maintenance and delivery of a range of innovative high quality programmes, increasing charitable impact, income generation and business effectiveness to achieve the charity’s vision, mission and strategic aims in line with YMCAfit’s operational plan.

To be considered you must have:

  • An A1 and V1 (or equivalent)
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications
  • Prior experience of curriculum design
  • Working knowledge of the National Occupational Standards in Teaching/ Instructing Exercise and Fitness
  • A background in and experience of teaching exercise and fitness and Fitness Instructor education delivery

To succeed in the role you will have good attention to detail, the ability to work to deadlines and to work autonomously, strong PC skills as well as a healthy interest in research. Product development experience and a degree in Exercise Science are also highly desirable.

The HR Advisor is a broad and varied position within Central YMCA that plays an essential role as part of the HR Service Centre team.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will have the responsibility to lead your own HR projects and will work collaboratively with HR Directors, Operations and Functions to provide core operational and transactional HR service and support. You will be responsible for managing our key HR systems and processes, and assisting managers to resolve employee issues by providing professional, high quality advice and support on a varied employee relations case load.

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist with excellent interpersonal skills, good eye for detail and strong IT skills. You will have a good knowledge of employment law and HR practice, and experience of managing employee relations cases.

Learner Placement Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Learner Placement Manager to join our Oldham Centre.

This rewarding role provides the essential link between learners on YMCA training programmes and local employers.  The opportunity seeks to tailor individual support and guidance to learners and to secure relevant and timely employability skills development through work placements. YMCA recognises and specialises in supporting young people who may be disillusioned and disengaged from education and training; providing employability support on our programmes is critical to the learners’ programme and journey.

Working closely with Tutors and Learning Mentors you will provide ongoing pastoral care, information, advice and guidance as well as employability and learning support, working with learners to overcome barriers, helping them to identify, apply and secure work placements.  You will assess how the learner is progressing in the workplace with the employers’ involvement, reporting back to the team.

With previous experience gained working with 16 -18 year olds you’ll also be a strong communicator with a positive attitude able to motivate and engage young people. You will possess the IAG level 3 qualification, along with IOSH or a level 2 health and safety qualification to be able to verify the suitability of the working environment before learners begin their work placements. You’ll be a team player, highly organised with the ability to engage well with an existing bank of employers and new ones. You will be based at the Oldham site though the opportunity has the potential to expand over Greater Manchester. You will need access to your own vehicle.
